Today, I got gas and groceries, and then we had appointments, after which I drove the middle son to school. Later, we spent time around Dedushka with the youngest, and then purchased spices I forgot to buy this morning. I picked up the oldest and took her to work. Next, I made dinner and prayed, then picked up the oldest, then ate dinner and washed the dishes. After that, we talked with Era and Dedushka on the phone. The kids wanted to make homemade oat milk (so, more dishes), then I made cookies, then movie, then finding a music folder for tomorrow, then—exhausted good nights. Somewhere in there Era dropped off a bag of yummy food that her friend brought for everyone! It complemented our haul from this morning perfectly. Thank you!
Now it’s 11:17 and I am definitely overdue for bed. I know I don’t get a second chance at this day. This day was good as we just prayed about downstairs. But I could definitely improve some things. And that’s the second chance – tomorrow! Another chance at life. A chance to write out our goals and make them plain and work towards them together.
I keep wanting the youngest to go back to school and haven’t given up on that. But I have also seen how being with me is also good for him in other unexpected ways — like pursuing his culinary dreams and visions. I get a second chance to pursue my first calling, my first priority—being a mom. So, in a way, it’s a good opportunity to re-evaluate and move forward with purpose, faith, and humility, knowing that a second chance is not always promised, but is so very welcome when in comes!!!
