today, I made pancakes with Kefir, and then, by the grace of God, my friend stopped by to bring some gifts: more eggs, milk, and chicken. The reason is that we are still iced in, but there may be more snow this weekend, so she was thinking of us and surprised us.

But that’s not the best past of the story. As my driveway is downhill and pure ice, I used a garden tool to poke a hole and then hold on to tool, scooch down, poke another hole further down, hold on to the pole, and scooch some more, and so on. Well, at one point, I started sliding really fast, and basically fell right on my chest. I took a few breaths, and sat up. Thankfully, I had on a thick coat, so I was fine. But then I was like, I am sledding down on my butt the rest of the way, which was fun. My friend left the bag of groceries at the bottom of the driveway, so then the only option available to me was to get on my hands and knees and push the bag up a little bit at a time, find some little hole to put my foot in, and push up. It was like rock climbing, but on my slanted driveway. My youngest came out to help and I told him to freeze, I got it. “It’s like Winter Olympics, but for moms,” and as I said it, I looked back and saw my friend smiling and taking a picture of me. Thanks! Haha. I am sure we’ll laugh about it later. A few more moments of humiliation and determination combined to the grand finale of standing up in a victory pose, carrying the bag of groceries inside to cheering kids.

and that, my friends, is why school should be closed the rest of the week hahaha
