My friend Jen gave me the idea of reading the Proverbs chapter that corresponds to the day of the month. Today is the 16th, so I read Chapter 16 of the book of Proverbs.
I love verse 3 — “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Lord, I commit this time with my dad and my kids to you. I also love verse 9 — “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” How true. Living proof of that one right now.
Today, the youngest really encouraged me. I was driving two people to school, and he was in the back seat. Instead of feeling self-condemnation, he said, “I bet a lot of people going through what we are going through would be driving to school, too.” Like, we are okay. We are doing the best we can given the circumstances. I really appreciated that mindset. It soothed my soul.
It would be easy to get frustrated because this is not the life we planned, but another idea is to think that God is in control, He is ordering our steps, and He loves us very much in the midst of everything. We are surrounded by His love for us.
And if He loves us so much that He would die for us, maybe we should love ourselves, too, and see ourselves as He sees us — with love.
That’s what I am thinking about. Hope you have a wonderful evening!
